I used to be a powerhouse of creativity with endless projects and skills. I was forced to put the brakes on thanks to a sudden bowel perforation that gave me the answer to “why do I feel crappy all the time” with an unwanted clarity.
Don’t get me wrong: I still keep up with my interests to the best of my ability, but I’m a lot slower and less prolific than I used to be, now that I’m disabled. Things I have done include sing in a darkwave band, run a goth night, DJ in clubs and on FM radio, and run a successful fiber arts studio.
What I do now is write essays, educational and inspirational material for other writers, and contemporary fantasy novels and stories. I still dabble in fiber arts and occasionally make jewelry, but it’s sporadic at best because of limited energy. I also have a 24-hour streaming radio station called Radio Xiane and a a podcast, Magic All Around. You’ll note that all of these can be done while sitting on my ass and with plentiful bathroom breaks. That’s my life these days.
